May Updates

May 4th, 2012 at 3:28 am

Hi Everyone!

I have a couple of bits of news to share this month.

Two books are on the verge of being submitted to publishers.

Learning the Ropes will be the third book (out of four) in the Sex Sells series and will be released in June. Post Haste will be the eleventh book (out of, I think, fourteen) in the Pushing the Envelope series and will be released in July. Blurbs and book pages will go up as soon as they are officially subbed.

I also have two books that will be released this month.

Title: Home Sweet Home

Series: Kinky Quickies (Book 5)

Genre: Male/Male, BDSM, Erotic Romance

Publisher: Resplendence Publishing

Release Date: 9th May 2012

Title: By Hand

Series: Pushing The Envelope (Book 9)

Genre: Male/Male, BDSM, Erotic Romance

Publisher: Amber Allure

Release Date: 13th May 2012

And the third bit of news is actually more of an introduction.

Everyone, meet Anwen...

As a few people out there know, I've wanted to adopt a dog for a long time. I was sure that when the time was right, the right dog would present herself. Turns out the time was right about two weeks ago.

Anwen is a chihuahua. Both her parents were short coated, but she's a bit of a throw back to the longer coated breed, so we're not sure how long her coat might grow. She was bred intentionally small, but she was the runt of the litter, and is pretty tiny. She may well not grow much bigger than she is now, but she's already got a great-dane sized personality!

As you can probably tell, I'm completely besotted.

Okay, aims for the month...

I'll be working on Naked Truth, which is part of the Sun, Sea and Submission series. Then I'll be moving onto the next story in the Pushing the Envelope series.

I'm also hoping to get the whole puppy house training thing sorted!

Hope everyone has a great May!

*Hugs*

April News

April 1st, 2012 at 3:22 am

Hello everyone,

For the first time in what feels like forever, I'm posting my monthly news on the first day of the month. I'm quietly impressed with myself!

And, as it happens, this month, I don't have a lot to chat about except the usual updates.

The one thing I do want say is a huge thank you to everyone who left such supportive comments on my last two blog posts. I haven't replied to them individually, mostly because I get tongue tied when everyone is being so nice and don't know what to say! So, I'll just say that I have read them, they all mean a lot to me, and you guys all rock!

*Hugs*

*Clears throat* And back to the regularly scheduled post...

At the end of March, I submitted two short stories:

Title: Warning Wendy

Series: The Whole A-Z (Book 6)

Genre: Male/Female, BDSM, Erotic Romance

Publisher: Resplendence Publishing

Release Date: 29th August 2012

Title: In the Blink of an Eye

Series: Kinky Quickies (Book 6)

Genre: Male/Male, BDSM, Erotic Romance, Christmas

Publisher: Resplendence Publishing

Release dare: 12th September 2012

Warning Wendy is the final short story in The Whole A-Z. All the others are going to be 20,000 words or longer.

In the Blink of an Eye may or may not be the final short story in the Kinky Quickies collection. I'm dabbling with the idea of doing 12, but I haven't decided yet.

Coming up this month, I have two new releases:

Title: Be There

Series: Pushing The Envelope (Book 8)

Genre: Male/Male, BDSM, Erotic Romance

Publisher: Amber Allure

Release Date: 8th April 2012

Title: Obedient Slave

Series: Sun, Sea and Submission (Book 2)

Genre: Male/Male, BDSM, Erotic Romance

Publisher: Resplendence Publishing

Release Date: 18th April 2012

And that's it.

At the moment, I'm working on Learning the Ropes, which is the third book in the Sex Sells series. Floyd is currently way out of his depth, but that's kind of par for the course with him, poor dab.

Have a great April everyone!

Trying New Things...

March 28th, 2012 at 5:13 am

Hi everyone,

For a little while now, I've been making an effort to try new things with my writing. So, I thought I'd take a moment today to have a little re-cap and let you know how those things have turned out so far.

The first new thing I tried was writing a series that followed the same characters through serveral stories.

The response to Pushing the Envelope has been a little bit mixed. There have also been some concerns raised about my motives for structuring the series the way I have, so I thought I'd explain a little bit about how the series came to be as it is.

Joe and Scott's story has been bubbling away in my mind since early 2009.

Over the last three years, I've written and re-written parts of their story several times, in various formats. I tried to cram it into a single short story, but it wouldn't fit.

Then I tried to make it a novella, but things still seemed rushed, and the format felt clumsey. After that, I considered a novel format, but the structure was too episodic and wouldn't flow.

I wanted to track their progress over their first dates and, when it came down to it, the start of their relationship just didn't suit the format I usually use. The only way it seemed to work, was to put each date into a seperate story.

I'm reasonably happy with the outcome in terms of the actual story. I've got four more installments to write, but *touches wood*, it seems to be going okay.

Will readers like the format enough to keep reading until the end? I suppose only time will tell. I'm not sure if this is a format I'll use again. If it is, it will probably be after quite a long break.

The other new thing about this series, which I probably should mention, is that it is was my first project with a new-to-me publisher. I've really enjoyed working with Amber Allure and I'll hopefully go on to place other series with them in the future, so that at least is a new thing that's worked out well :)

The next new thing I've tried involves the free story I've written for the Goodread MM Romance Group's Love is Always Write event.

Taking part in the event isn't new for me. I took part in 2010 and 2011 too. It's a lot of fun.

The new thing for me was writing a story in the first person. I've never done that before - at least not while expecting anyone else to read it.

I know I enjoyed doing it. The test will come when it's released as part of the event in June/July.

If it does go down well, there will probably be more first person stories from me in the future.

Next we have my experimenting with different gender combinations in my stories.

For a long time, I'd written pretty much exclusively MM. I hadn't really thought about it a lot. Most of the characters in my head were men who wanted to fall in love with other men and I didn't have a problem with that.

I only started to feel strange about it after reading comments by some members of the MM community regarding female characters in books. If I'm being 100% honest, the coments I stumbled across made me really uncomfortable.

I ended up feeling that if I wrote a story with a female main character I would be "letting the side down". Some of the comments were really anti-female characters - as if there was no such thing as a female character who was worth reading about or who deserved to find her happy ending. And when it came to lesbian or bi women - it seemed they shouldn't even have the right to exist!

I've never written MM with the desire to exclude female characters or to avoid "girl-cootes". So, I guess the bloody minded side of me came to the fore at that point. And, more importantly, female characters stepped forward in my mind, letting me know that they had stories that were worth telling.

And so The Whole A-Z series was born. The idea is that it will cover the whole spectrum of gender combinations. It also covers the whole range of book lengths. It may well cover the whole range of kinky things too, the characters haven't all made their preferences clear to me yet.

The particularly new things for me came with Admiring Anna, my first FF title. I really enjoyed writing it. I've had a couple of good comments on it. Mostly, I think people skipped over it, which is their right, of course :) Either way there are at least 2 more FF titles to come. Even if they don't sell, I need to write them. Women who love women need their happy endings too!

The other new kind of story for me to publish comes out today. Obeying Olivia is my first FM title - that's where the female character is dominant and the male character is submissive. I have written FM before, but not for publication. I found it to be great fun. The dynamic is a bit different to all the other gender combinations. I'm hoping a few people will try it out, or at least read the excerpt before they write it off. Once again, time will tell. And, yep, at least 2 more FM stories will happen regardless of sales figures :D

Another new thing I've been toying with has less to do with how I write and more to do with how I respond to reviews and comments about what I've already written.

My new tactic is to mentally respond, very calmly, in one of two ways to each negative review.

Either: Yes, that's a good point. Thanks for giving me a heads up. I'll make a note of that and try not to make the same mistake again.

Or: No. You're entitled to your opinion, but that's not actually correct. These are the reasons I know you're wrong...etc.

So far, it's working out quite well. I'm getting less stressed out things.

Of course, there are some things it doesn't work for. I don't think anything will stop terms like "BDSM-lite" setting my teeth on edge, lol.

And the last new thing for me? Well, it's trying to occassionaly manage a blog post that says more than I've had a book either accepted or released.

I've made a little start with this post, we'll see how it goes from here on.

An Apology

March 22nd, 2012 at 4:03 am

Hi guys,

There's good news and bad news.

The good news is that the first draft of Magpie is done. (Yay!)

The bad news is that, as my energy levels stand at the moment, there's no way I can edit it up ready for the release date at the end of May. If I tried, there may have been a book, but it almost certainly wouldn't be one worth reading.

So, at my request, the release date has been moved back to October 3rd. The book that was in that slot (Going Batty) will be pushed back and released at some point in 2013.

I know that Magpie is the release most people are looking forward to the most, so I'm sorry the wait for it will be a bit longer now. But, hopefully, you'll enjoy the finished book more when it does come out.

All the other books in the release schedule look set to stay the same. You can check out the schedule by clicking on the random, but very pretty, pic below.

February

February 1st, 2012 at 6:24 am

Hi everyone,

I am in no way ready for February, but since the calendar seems to take no notice of that fact, here we go anyway...

I have four books releasing this month - two of them today!

Admiring Anna is my first ever FF title.

I don't make a habit of asking people to buy my books, and I'm not going to start now. But I will ask that, if you're not sure if you will like an FF tale or not, please click on the pic and read the excerpt rather than simply dismiss it without ever giving it a chance.

As for All the Gear, No Idea - clicking on that pic will take you to an excerpt too :)

This one is the second in a series of Valentines' Day meetings. It will probably make more sense if you've read Call Me Sir, Boy!

The two titles coming out later this month are For His Eyes Only and Waking Up Naked. More details on them will be posted closer to their release dates.

Submissions wise I have two stories from the Pushing the Envelope series to send off over the next week or so. Then, there will be quite a break in news about submissions since I'll be starting work on Magpie, and that will take a little while to complete!

Hope you have a great month!

*Hugs*

The winner is Kerry! If you e-mail me and let me know what format you would prefer, I'll send a copy through to you.

I'm off to bed now, but I will be back tomorrow with info on February's releases as well as some completely random things :)

*Hugs everyone*

Submission Number Two

January 29th, 2012 at 4:09 am

Hello everyone :)

My second submission of 2012 has finally made its way to my publisher's in box.

Obedient Slave is MM, BDSM, Erotic Romance. It's the second book in the Sun, Sea and Submission series that started last year. This one follows the story of Matthew - an employee of Pendragon Hotel who appeared briefly in the first book - Packing Leather. You don't need to read the first one for this story to make sense, it can stand on its own just fine :)

Click on the pretty pic to go to the book page and read the blurb.
